English Channel
Called la Manche, or "the sleeve" in French, the English Channel is an arm of the Atlantic Ocean separating Great Britain from northern France. On Friday, 36-year-old Jonathan Trappe from Raleigh, North Carolina, became the first person to float across the 22-mile Channel using helium balloons—54 of them to be exact.

"Didn't you have this dream, grabbing on to a bunch of toy balloons and floating off? I think it's something that's shared across cultures and across borders — just this wonderful fantasy of grabbing on to toy balloons and floating into open space," Trappe told Sky News.
